M. Jennifer Bergman, IBCLC

Hi, my name is Jennifer Bergman. I was born in New Jersey and moved south as a child growing up mostly in Georgia. I have been married to a wonderful man for the last 13 years who has always been supportive of all of my dreams. I am a mother of three children 22, 13 and 7 who all had very different breastfeeding journeys. I was a teen mom who really wanted to breastfeed but due to a lack of both knowledge and support I struggled to make that a reality with my oldest son. By the time I had my daughter 9 years later, I had read a ton of books about pregnancy, birth and more specifically breastfeeding. Armed with much more knowledge than previously and the support of my husband I successfully breastfed her for a year. It wasn’t until I had my youngest child that I realized the field of lactation support is where I should be working in as a career. He is now 7 and together we had an amazing breastfeeding relationship for two and a half years.
I earned my Bachelor Degree in 2016 and had always intended to go into a field that involved helping people and families but ultimately thought it would be psychology that I ended up in. After applying for a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor position at my local WIC office and being given a chance to help counsel mothers about the many benefits of breastfeeding, I realized this is what I was destined to do. That position allowed me to become a Certified Lactation Counselor and begin helping mothers both in and out of WIC reach any breastfeeding goals. Since then, I became an IBCLC in 2018.
I love that all of this has brought me to a point where I can do what I love by helping people combined with something I am so passionate about. I look forward to helping you achieve your lactation goals, whatever they may be.
